December 24th, 2016
Time to wrap up! An other year is almost over. Still living in Imerinafovoany but the last 12 months have been more hectic than ever.

On the professional side the shift from Programme Planning Process to Result based management training has been the main 'novelty'. Travel started on 29 January with a one week mission to Port au Prince (PaP), Haiti, followed by a one week workshop in Turin, Italy in February, and a 3 week team coaching in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire in March. Back in PaP for 3 weeks in April before 2 weeks in Dakar in May preparing for one week in June in Yaounde, Cameroon and two weeks in July in Bangui, CAR. I completed the 'world tour' with one week in September in Abidjan, same in Ouagadougou early October, and 3 weeks in November in Yaounde. Here in Antananarivo I managed to collaborate with Institut superieur du travailleur social and LALANA (an NGO ), and had a seminar on HRBAP & RBM at the Institut National de Sante Publique et Communautaire.

Family news: Haingonirina is now working with the IOM ICT team still in Geneva and went for a terrific 2 month outpost in Manilla; Tojo is Country Director for 'Project Abroad' and settled with family in Moramanga, close to his work in Andasibe; Mialy is a Project team leader at KBI inc, a biochemistry lab firm in Durham NC; Andry is coming to settle for a while in Imerinafovoany after completing a Transport Canada commercial pilot license in Ottawa. We  spent 3 weeks with Mialy in Cary NC  in August-September  and about a week with Haingonirina in Geneva in October.

For fun golfing guided our paths to Abidjan (twice alone), Antsirabe, PaP, Dakar, Durham & Raleigh NC, Yaounde (alone) and Foulpointe. We enjoyed 5 days spent at Antsanitia resort, about 27km North of Mahajanga: nice accomodation, nice beach, good food and real 'farniente'.

Besides using extensively the close-by International airport (at least once a month!) time in Imerinafovoany is spent between golf playing, enjoying lunch at the veranda when watching the garden, mainly during the cool dry season, social networking, mainly through FB, taking on-line courses (Public Private Partnership, RBM, Social norms, ...) and contributing (not enough indeed!) to the maintenance of the house, the main hassle being on-going and endless power and water breakdown. Lalasoa is the main pillar of the house in Imerinafovoany, progressively building the capacity and the quality of services in Trano Kanto (http://kanto-bnb.blogspot.com). Every downtown incursion is a tiring expedition because of traffic jam and urban pollution and therefore is limited to the strict minimum. Eating like a king in the morning (including a bowl of rice!), like a prince at noon, and like a beggar in the evening is still my motto and I have been sticking to it for the past 2 years: Mainly fish, chicken, vegetables, fruits, 'spicy' olive oil and our irreplaceable 'red' rice keep me happy and contribute to my fitness and my 'slimness'!

What to expect and plan for 2017:
- More workshops on RBM and Theory of change coaching; more substantive contribution to national development (??);
- More exploration of Madagascar jewels
- Unique experience of attending Mialy and Kevin's wedding
- Re-discovering and enjoying life with Andry

Mirary soa ho anareo mirahavavy!
